As you may already know, recent gas volatility has forced changes to Dapper’s gas policy, which we announced earlier this month. While the changes are an unfortunate reality of the current ecosystem, we’ve heard your feedback and want to be more intentional with our updates and give more notice prior to core changes. In that spirit, we’re announcing we are no longer subsidizing gas for the ‘approve’ function on CryptoKitties starting October 1st.
What does this affect?
The ‘approve’ function is used in the first steps of wrapping a WCK token, which was previously covered by the Dapper Pass. Listing on some marketplaces, like OpenSea, also use this function. This was causing a bit of confusion for some as part of the transaction was free, but the other used a transaction pass. While we've removed the function from the Dapper pass, transactions can still be completed using a Transaction Pass. We’ve also adjusted the pricing of passes from a running average of the previous 5 days to 2 days.
In addition to the previous changes, the following is a complete list of CryptoKitties functions which are no longer covered:
- cancelSiringAuction @kittycore
- cancelSaleAuction @kittycore
- createSaleAuction @kittycore
- createSireAuction @kittycore
- approve @kittycore
As always, we’re keeping a close eye on gas pricing and we’ll keep everyone in the loop with any future changes. If you have any questions or feedback, reach out to the team on the CryptoKitties Discord or by emailing support@meetdapper.com.
